Did you know...
about our guaranteed buyback policy?
90 / 90 Buyback Policy Highlights: In case you didn't know, we do offer a minimum buyback policy that is guaranteed for all purchases for $3,000 or higher. We will write a check for no less than 90% of the purchase price, for the first 90 days after purchase. After that, we will offer an 85% minimum, for up to one full calendar year after purchase. Rest assured that we stand behind our inventory, and we emphasize that we'd probably offer more than that in many cases. These are only minimum floor prices to act as a safety net. They are set to specific time frames and percentages due to potential market volatility, economic uncertainty, and sudden over-availability of a specific issue with a hoard or similar event (Fairmont anyone?)... but in the great majority of cases, we would be offering well beyond those minimum figures, perhaps more than your initial purchase price depending on time, market demand, and availability. We limit the specified time frame to one year, because realistically, it would be silly to make a blanket policy beyond that. A year is a long time in the coin world, and while our offer would almost certainly be no less than it was in the first year, our crystal ball is still out of order and we don't want to set a dubious expectation. Please do not hesitate to ask about this when inquiring about a piece, and do note that this policy while not yet advertised, had been in place verbally in conversation since we've opened. We'd have no reservations if to extend it retroactively to anything we've sold in the past. If future liquidity is something that's important to you, we can discuss individualized arrangements, as our flexibility varies from case to case, but we'll be happy to put any agreement in writing, on your invoice.
There may be instances where you may wish to use a coin that we sold you in trade towards another coin, in our current inventory, and in a case like that you can add 5% to each of the above figures for the above time frames. Collectors that work or have worked with us before, already know how it works with upgrades and recurring purchases. We try to be extraordinarily fair with repeat clients when "trading up", since upgrades can be a natural aspect of type collecting and they generally shouldn't be discouraged (unless the "upgrade" is a less attractive "coin-in-a-coffin" 🫤). To be clear, this is entirely separate from our hassle free, one or two questions asked return policy...(Mailed check, or e-check? Do you need a return label?), which applies to all internet purchases, of any price range.
We just wanted to acknowledge that financial setbacks can be an unavoidable part of life for anyone at anytime, and in the case of an unfortunate liquidity issue, our customers aren't going to take a cold bath if they're left with no choice but to part with a coin recently purchased...at least, not coins that came from us. We aim to bolster your confidence when making a significant financial commitment, especially a relatively large one, the same type of confidence that supported our decision to purchase that coin. Take comfort in knowing that we will go out of our way to help cushion the impact of a precarious cash flow situation, and can also offer consignment options before writing a check, if the timing window is wider than "immediate".
At any given time, consignments are but a small fraction of our website inventory. The implication is that a coin on our website is a coin that we determined to be worth the time and effort to discuss and deploy capital, travel and insure, photograph properly, compose a written description of physical characteristics, historical significance, and explain pricing rationale. While we will attempt to offer on just about anything upon request, we try to avoid listing any mediocre or sub-par "product", or "stuff" in our website inventory... which is why we would always appreciate any and all opportunities to buy back coins we've handled in the past. Some of you have been around long enough to know that "Old friends are the best friends", and we're happy to open our door for any "old friends" looking for a new home.
