1797 Draped Bust Dollar PCGS XF40 CAC 9x7 Stars, Large Letters
Hints of frosty mint luster are seen throughout the periphery on this lovely early Draped Bust Dollar. The coin displays attractive silver-gray toning with hints of iridescent steel-gray and apricot patina, exceptionally preserved at this grade level The strike is bold for the issue, and the fields are noticably clean of marks. An honest and wholesome example, we would not be shocked to see this coin in a 45 holder. Perhaps some easily overlooked adjustment marks on the reverse were factored in to that end, but we have seen much worse looking coins in higher graded holders.
While unattributed on the slab, this is the B-1, BB-73, R.3.
