1801 Capped Bust Gold Eagle PCGS MS-62 CAC
Finding an early Draped Bust $10 with this type of color is a herculean task, the eye appeal of this coin is astounding. While the 1801 is frequently encountered, theyre usually stripped, scrubbed, and generally unappealing in our eyes. Many low MS examples had to be "improved" to reach that grade level, but luckily this one went unmolested for over 200 years and developed exceptional "skin" that is very rarely encountered. Warmly patinated in peach-gold, and darker russet crust hugs the peripheries. The obverse has some par for the grade abrasions that are well dispersed and easily overlooked, and the reverse is absolutely remarkable for the grade level. There are several 58 CAC coins that have traded at or around thew 50k mark in recent years, so we feel that the value is simply all there and then some on this magnificent early 10.
