1829 Coronet Head Large Cent Large Letters PCGS AU55 Gold CAC
The 1829 Large Cent is actually pretty scarce in higher grades. This lovely N-6 Coronet Head has strong cartwheel luster, and even chocolate-brown and tan surfaces. Retained peripheral mint red is seen on the reverse. Clearly undergraded, this example presents more like a 63 than an AU, save for the slightest bit of cabinet rub on the high points. The price is not based on the holder label, but once you compare APRs of uncirculated coins with abysmal eye appeal, it will illustrate why we paid way up for this coin.
The only gold CAC for the year, and the grade AU-55, for the whole series.
