1852 $10 Wass, Molitor & Co. Ten Dollar, Large Head PCGS VF20 CAC
Wass, Molitor and Co. struck ten dollar gold pieces in 1852 and 1855. Despite that the Kagin-4 variety is the most abundant of the 1852 Wass tens, with approximately 150 examples known, finding a wholesome not scrubbed example can present a challenge for the discriminate collector. This pleasing VF example comes with a bright wheat-gold patina and surfaces free of major distractions, save for moderate abrasions which are common on these usually poorly struck issues. Wholesome surfaces, lovely eye appeal, and CAC approval are all hallmarks of the quality of this seldom appealing pioneer issue.
