1861 Clark Gruber $10 PCGS AU55
This second-year Clark, Gruber & Co $10 is a scarce and popular design type, though not quite as popular as the Iconic 1860 "Moun-ten". Smooth and presentable surfaces are accompanied by a lovely honey-gold color. A strong central design along with solid luster makes this an affordable example of a choice & colorful Colorado Eagle. This date is seemingly very tough to find in CAC AU or XF, and when they do show up in auctions, its not uncommon for the price to double/eclipse similar coins that face up well, but don't make the cut at the sticker factory. As such, I'd opine that the value proposition for this issue doesn't look bad at all, considering that the Moun-ten in the same grade would cost several multiples of this price.
