The 1862-S Half Eagle is one of the toughest rarities in the Liberty Half Eagle series with a mintage of 9500, and is a victim of being quite underrated as well. Auction records are few and far between, with most records being from 20+ years ago.

Smooth, well-traveled surfaces lay claim to an original golden tone, and "dirty old gold" fields. With no distracting marks of note, this is a pleasing example of a difficult to find issue, especially with CAC approval.
